Brian is passionate about offering his clients the best therapy experience possible by meeting clients where they are and drawing from a variety of approaches depending on the unique needs of each individual.
Murphy guides and empowers clients facing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, spirituality concerns, gender issues, LGBTQIA concerns, chronic pain, relationship challenges, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), sexual abuse (adult), grief and mourning, professional burnout, attachment disorders, and anger management.
Brian is certified in EMDR and Trauma-Sensitive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), both of which he frequently uses to help clients process and heal from trauma. Murphy draws from other theoretical approaches including Humanistic, Existential, Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Jungian and Body-Centered Therapies.
Murphy earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute.
Counseling is a second career for Brian, who previously worked as a touring musician, as well as a music producer, recording over 100 records and composing original scores for film and television. He enjoys career counseling as a result of his own personal journey – and has a unique interest in working with local musicians and other artists.
When he’s not working with clients, Brian enjoys camping, motorcycle riding and spending time outdoors.
