Jazzmin Cohen, PsyD

Jazzmin Cohen, PsyD, is a Nashville, Tennessee-based Marriage & Family Therapist Intern, who works with adults, teens, and children, treating a wide variety of issues, ranging from anxiety and depression to complex trauma, grief and relationship issues.

Dr. Cohen offers a warm, genuine, and non-judgmental space for clients, whom she views as equals in the therapy process, to explore their past, accept and manage their present, and incorporate tools to help successfully design their future. Through empathetic understanding, Dr. Cohen supports and empowers clients to discover their full potential, drawing on their strength and desire to change old patterns and harmful beliefs.

While Dr. Cohen’s therapeutic orientation is integrative, drawing from multiple approaches to meet the unique needs of each individual, she frequently utilizes Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

In her work with couples, Jazzmin provides a neutral space for each partner to safely express their unique desires, needs, and concerns. Together, she expertly facilitates the resolution of communication challenges, trust issues and other difficulties.

Jazzmin has experience working with diverse populations. Specifically, she enjoys working with teens and adults in the LGBTQIA+ community to help them cope with discrimination and oppression, and to create a sense of comfort around sexual orientation, familial relationships, and gender identity.

Dr. Cohen earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology. Her dissertation research was focused on Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Alternative Methods to Reduce Hypertension to individuals in the African-American community. She enjoys applying her health research to support clients in her therapy practice.
